Softening In: A Trauma-Aware Introduction to Meditation w/ Kat Owens (C-IAYT, E-RYT) Sundays 2:30–4pm · April 2026 This four-session series offers a supportive, trauma-aware entry into meditation. Together we’ll explore different ways of practicing that meet real bodies, real minds, and real life. Each week builds on the last, giving you practical tools you can use both in daily life and in community practice. Sessions include a mix of guided meditation, gentle somatic awareness, reflection, and optional sharing. Props, chairs, wall space, and varied positions are welcome and encouraged. The four sessions will move through: Support - anchors & attention Offer - connection & compassion Feel - relating to the inner & outer world Tend - honoring experience & integrating practice You’ll receive a workbook with techniques, guidance, and resources to support continued practice. This is designed to be accessible and supportive of neurodiversity, different learning styles, and varied relationships to stillness and meditation. Community Care To give back, this series will support a donation drive supporting Care Collective of Southwest Michigan, a local organization whose mission we support. We invite you to bring one of the following items to contribute: Diapers (sizes 4, 5, or 6), Pull-Ups (sizes 3T/4T or 4T/5T), Daytime thin menstrual pads, Overnight thin menstrual pads, Unscented baby wipes. Participation in the drive is encouraged but optional. Sliding Scale (covers all four sessions + workbook): Supported Rate – $75 Standard Rate – $100 Community / Pay-It-Forward – $125 About Kat Kat Owens is a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) and experienced teacher known for her grounded, thoughtful, and highly supportive approach. Her work weaves together yoga therapy, trauma-sensitive mindfulness, accessible yoga, and social justice–informed practice. Kat has trained with and studied under leaders in accessible and trauma-informed work, including Advanced Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness, Accessible Yoga, TCTSY, and somatic and restorative approaches. She brings years of experience working with diverse communities and creates spaces where people can move at their own pace, with choice and agency at the center. No refunds or exchanges.
