sta(y)ble. Doshas//Kapha (opt. support)
Slow, supportive yoga focused on movement, circulation, and gentle activation.
Service Description
sta(y)ble. Doshas / Kapha is a seasonal practice rooted in yoga and Ayurveda, an ancient system of health and self-study that understands the body and mind as responsive to rhythm, environment, and change. Within Ayurveda, doshas describe dynamic patterns of energy that shift with season, stress, routine, and life experience. This spring session focuses on Kapha, the dosha associated with earth and water—structure, stability, heaviness, and cohesion. When kapha is elevated, it may show up as sluggishness, low motivation, emotional heaviness, congestion, or a sense of feeling “stuck.” Spring, in particular, is a time when kapha can accumulate and benefit from intentional movement and circulation. This practice emphasizes steady, accessible movement; longer standing sequences; gentle strength-building; and breath practices that encourage clarity and flow without overstimulation. The pace is supportive rather than forceful, inviting participants to meet heaviness with curiosity and care rather than urgency. As with the rest of the series, repetition and familiarity allow the practice to become something the body can trust. This class is part of a year-long seasonal series, with each session aligning movement and breath with the dominant energies of the season: Vata (Winter): January–March Kapha (Spring): April–June Pitta (Summer–Early Fall): July–October Students may attend a single season or move through the full cycle. The practice is facilitated by Andy Bachman (they/them), a 500-hour yoga teacher and Ayurvedic Health Counselor trained through the Kripalu Schools of Yoga and Ayurveda. Andy’s teaching weaves together yoga, Ayurveda, restorative practices, and accessibility, with attention to nervous system health, lived experience, and the broader conditions that shape how we move and rest. This class is welcoming to newer students and supportive for those with an established practice. Options and props are offered throughout to reflect a wide range of bodies and needs. There will be no music during class. Optional individual support may be offered as capacity allows and is always consent-based, with the opportunity to opt out prior to class beginning. No hands-on support is ever given without permission.
