Service Description

sta(y)ble. Doshas / Pitta is a seasonal yoga practice informed by Ayurveda, an ancient system of health and inquiry that developed alongside yoga. Ayurveda teaches that the doshas are not fixed identities, but shifting energies influenced by season, stress, environment, and lived experience. This summer session centers Pitta, the dosha associated with fire and transformation—heat, intensity, focus, and drive. When pitta is elevated, it may show up as irritability, burnout, inflammation, overheating, or a tendency toward pushing beyond limits. During warmer months, many people benefit from practices that emphasize moderation, cooling, and spaciousness. This class emphasizes mindful pacing, cooling and grounding postures, intentional pauses, and breath practices that support down-regulation and clarity without collapse. Effort is balanced with ease, strength with softness, and focus with permission to rest. The sequence is designed to support sustainable movement rather than performance. As part of the year-long seasonal series, this session completes the cycle: Vata (Winter): January–March Kapha (Spring): April–June Pitta (Summer–Early Fall): July–October Each season can be attended independently or experienced as part of the full arc. The practice is facilitated by Andy Bachman (they/them), a 500-hour yoga teacher and Ayurvedic Health Counselor trained through the Kripalu Schools of Yoga and Ayurveda. Andy’s teaching integrates yoga, Ayurveda, restorative practices, and accessibility, with attention to nervous system health, social context, and the realities of modern life. This class is open to newer students and supportive for those with ongoing practices. Modifications and props are offered throughout. There will be no music during class. Optional individual support may be offered as capacity allows and is always consent-based, with the opportunity to opt out prior to class beginning. No hands-on support is ever given without permission.
