Service Description

sta(y)ble. Doshas // Vata is a seasonal, community-oriented practice rooted in yoga and Ayurveda, an ancient system of health and self-study that developed alongside yoga. Ayurveda describes doshas as dynamic patterns of energy that move through nature and through us—shaped by season, environment, routine, stress, and change. Rather than fixed types, doshas are constantly shifting and responding to the conditions around us. This winter session focuses on Vata, the Dosha associated with movement, cold, dryness, and variability. During winter—or during periods of transition—Vata can become elevated and may show up as anxiety, restlessness, disrupted sleep, scattered attention, or a sense of being ungrounded. This practice is designed to meet those experiences with steadiness, warmth, and repetition. Classes emphasize slow, grounding movement; warming postures for the legs and hips; rhythmic breath practices; and generous time for rest and body awareness. The sequence remains largely consistent throughout the season, allowing familiarity to build over time and offering a practice that can be carried into daily life. Reflection and quiet integration are woven throughout. This class is part of a year-long seasonal series, with each session aligning practice with the dominant energies of the season: Vata (Winter): January–March Kapha (Spring): April–June Pitta (Summer–Early Fall): July–October Students are welcome to attend a single season or move through the full cycle. The practice is facilitated by Andy Bachman (they/them), a 500-hour yoga teacher and Ayurvedic Health Counselor trained through the Kripalu Schools of Yoga and Ayurveda. Andy brings together yoga, Ayurveda, restorative practices, and skillful facilitation, with attention to accessibility, lived experience, and the ways social and seasonal conditions shape our nervous systems and bodies. Their teaching is informed by ongoing study, community work, and a commitment to learning and accountability. This class is welcoming to newer students and just as grounding for those with an ongoing practice. Options, cues, and props are offered throughout to reflect a wide range of bodies and needs. Mats and props are always available. There will be no music during class. Optional individual support may be offered as capacity allows and is always consent-based. Students will have the opportunity to opt out prior to class beginning. No hands-on support is ever given without permission. No
